Native Carbapenemase Protein Series

Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) pose severe challenges to hospital infection control. Rapid and accurate detection of carbapenemases enables timely identification of enzyme-producing resistant strains, rational antimicrobial medication and containment of resistant pathogen transmission. Immunoassay-based rapid carbapenemase test kits have been widely adopted in microbiology laboratories for simple operation and fast turnaround. Nonetheless, reagent developers commonly face bottlenecks in calibrator and quality control (QC) raw material selection. Commercially prevalent recombinant protein antigens differ markedly in folding conformation from native carbapenemases expressed by clinical strains. Calibration and QC systems prepared from such antigens tend to suffer poor commutability and result drift across platforms and batches. Native antigens are thus preferred for calibrator & QC preparation: they retain the native conformation of bacterial proteins, mimic antigen profiles in clinical specimens, and fundamentally improve assay commutability.

New Launch: Native Carbapenemase Proteins

A crucial supplement for QC development

DIA-UP launches new native protein raw materials for carbapenemase assay development: KPC, NDM,

VIM, OXA-48 and IMP.

The combined portfolio of DIA-UP native antigens & mutant recombinant proteins forms an integrated development

solution: it addresses commutability challenges for calibrators & QC materials on one hand, and completes antibody specificity verification on the other, delivering one-stop support for the whole development workflow of carbapenemase

immunoassays.

· Native Proteins

Expressed naturally by strains, these proteins preserve intact native spatial conformation and closely mimic actual carbapenemases in clinical samples. They are applicable to calibrator and QC material development for carbapenemase assays, improving cross-platform commutability and between-batch consistency.

· Supporting Verification Materials

The KPC mutant panel (recombinant proteins) covers prevalent variants including KPC-2, 31, 33, 35, 51, 76, 78, 121, 130. It is used for antibody specificity evaluation, validating the assay’s recognition of various mutants and preventing missed detection.
